Leather
- To remove minor stains from your leather chair or saddle stool, start by wiping
with a clean, moist – not wet – cloth.
- If more cleaning is needed: On a clean cloth create a sudsy water/soap mix,
using a mild soap (e.g. Dove, Ivory) or hand-moisturizing soap. Gently rub the mixture
on the spot.
- Wipe clean with a damp, lint-free towel.
- Finish by wiping with a clean dry towel.
- Marks from ballpoint pen:
Gentle rubbing with an ordinary pencil eraser will diminish the mark but may not
take it out completely.
- Never use solvents or chemical products (such as disinfectants) on leather!
Vinyl
- Wipe with a moist cloth.
- Remove minor dirt and stains with a solution of mild soap and water.
- Rinse and dry with clean cloth or towel.
- For more difficult stains use household cleaners (e.g. Formula 409, Fantastic).
- Rinse and dry with clean cloth or towel.
- Marks from ballpoint pen:
First, rub gently with an ordinary pencil eraser to diminish the mark.
Subsequent light rubbing with a paste of powder cleanser such as Ajax and Comet
will also help lighten the mark of a ballpoint pen. Rinse well and dry.
- Unlike leather, vinyl upholstery tolerates gentle use of common disinfectants.
Fabric
- Dry wet spots first with a white paper towel.
- Scrape off dry attached spots with a dull tool.
- Most spots can be removed with lukewarm water. For stubborn spots add a
mild detergent to the water. Use small quantities of cleaning agent and blot dry
with white paper towel as you work.
- Regular vacuum cleaning helps to preserve the fabric's color and appearance.
